Cheaper and older 1R units will often have what is called a unit bath, where the tub/shower, sink, and toilet combined into one space like what you might see in a business hotel.

Unlike a 1R studio flat, 1K flats often have a separate kitchenette. Many newer types will have a door between the kitchenette and the main room, and will have a separate toilet and bath.

Rent for the 1K studio apartments listed here can be as low as ¥30,000 to as much as ¥140,000. Floor space can range from as little as 16 m² to as much as 50 m².

We have tried to show listings that include buildings with an elevator unless it is a low-rise structure. We have also tried to limit listings to buildings that are no more than a 15-minute walk from the nearest station.

When searching for a flat, please bear in mind that the closer you want to live to a station, the rent will be higher and the space will likely be smaller than a similar apartment that is farther from the station.
